During and after

During and after

  • Stay safe and stay out of floodwater
  • Turn off power at the main switch if water is coming in
  • Take photos and video before you clean up
  • Keep damaged stock until the insurer has seen it, unless it’s a health risk

Cover

What your policy may do

Storm and water damage cover can respond to damage to the building, equipment and stock. Business interruption can help with lost income. Flood is treated differently from storm in many policies, so it’s worth knowing which one you have.

Before the storm

Before the storm

  • Lift stock, packaging and electrical gear off the floor

  • Clear gutters, drains and stormwater pits

  • Secure outdoor tables, umbrellas, signs and gas bottles

  • Check the roof, roller doors and seals

  • Charge phones and have a torch and a battery radio handy

  • Check your temperature alarms are working

  • Keep your policy details and our number somewhere you can get to them

  • Take photos of the premises, stock and equipment while it’s all in order
