Brewery Insurance
Brewery Insurance
Cover for microbreweries, craft breweries, brewpubs and taprooms across Australia.
Running a brewery is part manufacturing, part hospitality and part retail. That mix is exactly where standard business policies fall short. A fermenter fails, a batch gets contaminated, a patron slips in the taproom, or a cold room drops out overnight. Each of those is a different type of claim, and each needs the right cover in place before it happens.
At Ideal Insurance Brokers we arrange brewery insurance for microbreweries, craft breweries, brewpubs and taprooms. We look at how your business actually runs and build the policy around that, instead of handing you a generic package.

How we work
Built around how you brew, not a generic pack.
Not every brewery needs every cover. We go through your operation and tell you what is worth having and what isn’t. Based in Norwest, we arrange brewery insurance Australia wide.
Example claim
When the cool room fails over a long weekend
A small brewery with a taproom in Sydney’s west loses power to its cool room over a long weekend. By Monday morning, 3,000 litres of finished beer and a batch still in conditioning are ruined. The owner also has to close the taproom for two days while the system is repaired.
With stock cover that includes refrigeration failure and business interruption in place, the lost beer and the lost trading income can be claimed, subject to policy terms. Without it, the brewery wears the whole loss.
This is an example only. Cover depends on your policy wording, limits and exclusions.

Brewery insurance FAQs
Yes. A basic business pack usually won’t deal with contamination, tank and refrigeration failure, product recall or serving alcohol to the public. Breweries need a policy built around production and hospitality together.
Yes. Selling direct doesn’t remove the risk. If someone claims your beer made them ill, you are the one responsible. See our product liability page for more detail.
It can, depending on the cause. Stock cover can include loss from refrigeration breakdown, power failure and certain contamination events. Some causes, such as a brewing error, are commonly excluded, so it is worth checking the wording with us.
Recall cover is available from some insurers as an extension. It can help with the costs of withdrawing and replacing affected product. We can tell you what is available for your size of operation.
Yes, but the policy needs to reflect it. If you have live music, events, food or longer trading hours, tell us up front so the cover matches how you really operate.
Contract brewers and brewers using another brewery’s equipment have different risks around stock, liability and who owns what. We can arrange cover that fits that arrangement.
Kegs in circulation can be covered, but insurers treat them differently from kegs on your premises. Give us a rough count and how they are tracked and we will arrange the right cover.
It depends on your turnover, the value of your equipment and stock, whether you have a taproom, your claims history and the limits you choose. We get quotes from multiple insurers so you can compare.
Yes. We arrange brewery insurance Australia wide. We’re based in Norwest and work with breweries across the country.
