Tow Truck and Fleet Insurance
A tow truck is specialised plant on wheels. Ordinary truck wordings often miss apparatus, tray work and how you actually operate.
We arrange tow truck and fleet cover for owner-operators and multi-unit yards across NSW, with underwriting that understands towing.
What it can cover
- Own damage to the tow truck from accident, fire and theft
- Fleet schedules for multiple units under one arrangement
- Specialist apparatus where the policy includes it
- Agreed or market value options, depending on the insurer
What to check
Use and radius
Accident towing, trade towing and long-distance recovery can rate differently.
Driver experience
Insurers often set age, licence and experience conditions for tow operators.
Hook-in cover
Damage to the vehicle you are towing is usually separate. See our hook-in page.
Case study
An example
A two-truck yard has a collision on the M7. The unit is off the road for three weeks. Tow truck fleet cover can respond to the truck repairs. Hook-in cover is what would respond if the customer's car was damaged during the tow.
Illustrative example only. Cover depends on your policy wording.

Tow truck and fleet insurance FAQs
Not always. Tow trucks need underwriting that understands apparatus, towing use and often hook-in exposures.
Yes. We can arrange fleet schedules so units are listed and rated together.
Usually not. That is care, custody and control cover. See our CCC page.
