Delivery Vehicles and Goods in Transit
Delivery work needs two things working together: a motor policy that allows delivery use, and goods in transit cover for what is in the vehicle.
Private car policies often exclude delivery. Motor alone rarely covers the customer's goods. We arrange both sides for shops, bakeries and courier-style deliveries.
What we arrange together
Delivery vehicle cover
Vans, utes and cars used for delivery, with the right business use.
Goods in transit
Stock, food and parcels while they are on the road.
Theft from the vehicle
Subject to locking and visibility conditions in the transit wording.
Where delivery businesses get caught
Private use policies
Many personal motor policies exclude food delivery and courier work.
Goods left out of the motor policy
A crash can wreck the van and the load. Motor covers the van; transit covers the goods.
Peak values
Friday and weekend loads should set your transit limit, not a quiet Tuesday.
Case study
An example
A bakery van is rear-ended on a delivery run. The van needs panel work and trays of finished product are ruined. Commercial motor can respond to the van. Goods in transit can respond to the stock, if the limit and conditions were right.
Illustrative example only. Cover depends on your policy wording.

Delivery vehicles and goods in transit FAQs
Sometimes as a package, sometimes as separate covers. We structure it so vehicle use and goods limits both fit how you deliver.
Related, but this page is for delivery vehicle operators — shops and couriers moving goods in their own vehicles.
They need delivery-allowed motor cover at minimum. Goods cover depends on who owns the stock and how delivery is arranged.
